We are exceptionally pleased to announce that our school has received the Erasmus accreditation for the period 2021-2027.
Erasmus accreditation is a tool for education and training organisations in adult education, vocational education and training (VET), and school education that want to open up to cross-border exchange and cooperation. Award of the Erasmus accreditation confirms that the applicant has set up a plan to implement high quality mobility activities as part of a wider effort to develop their organisation.
Our school’s accreditation proposal, which embodies the school’s vision, has been accepted with flying colours. The professional development of staff is at the core of our vision and this accreditation will provide simplified access to Key Action 1 funding opportunities under the 2021-2027 programme.
We have prioritised 4 broad categories over which the school will be focusing in the next years.
- To strengthen the existing professional learning community and educators’ profile through the active involvement of staff members in international projects over a 5-year period.
- To further develop active classroom practices that allow learners to benefit from diversity, through reflection and professional dialogue within an intercultural and democratic dimension.
- To account for the impact of digital technology and online environments, bridging the gap between in and out of school use of media by empowering educators and developing their digital competences.
- To promote higher order and critical thinking skills that help learners engage with relevant issues, to distinguish facts from interpretations and to identify generalisations and stereotyping.
Let’s be clear – this is not something new but rather another step in our continued professional development, with an emphasis on continued. Just for the record our combined qualifications are rather impressive.
The above doesn’t even include the numerous courses that teachers attend on regular basis! And yet, we continuously strive to further our own education, because in so doing, we challenge ourselves and model life-long learning, setting an example to all our students.
This accreditation is an important milestone for our school. We are committed to put our school on the map as a beacon of quality education, a work in progress that constantly aims to further improve the educational experience for all concerned. This accreditation is yet another step in that direction.
