Innovative Digital Education and Skills (IDEAS)

At Zabbar B, we believe that ongoing professional development is key to staying up-to-date with the latest educational trends and best practices in education.

The latest professional development session for our teachers and learning support educators, held on Friday 17 February 2023, focused on the Innovative Digital Education and Skills (IDEAS) project. The aim of the event was to present the results of the IDEAS project, the project platform, and the material developed through the IDEAS modules. The project was a perfect opportunity to further explore innovative ways to integrate technology into the classroom and help our students develop important digital skills.

The event started with an introduction to the project and its results, followed by three presentations leading to hands-on workshops. Participants were introduced to the different aspects of the theme using the IDEAS videos and activities. These were led by professionals in the respective areas who have relevant expertise in education. Participants had the opportunity to interact, discuss and share their experiences related to the different aspects discussed during the event.

The workshops covered three key areas: Accessibility, Netiquette and E-Safety, and Blended Learning – Promoting Digital Collaboration. The accessibility workshop focused on using Immersive Reader and Dictate tools to improve reading and writing skills. The Netiquette and E-Safety workshop covered important topics related to online behaviour and safe internet usage. The Blended Learning workshop explored how technology can be used to promote collaboration and communication among students.

As educators, it’s our responsibility to prepare our students for the future, and that means equipping them with the digital skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. To achieve this goal, it’s essential that we continue to develop our skills and stay up-to-date with the latest developments. While technology has already become an integral part of our classrooms, we must keep learning and exploring innovative ways to integrate it into our teaching practices.

We firmly believe that ongoing learning is key to providing the best possible education for our students.
